Большая часть иллюстраций к «Zoographia Rosso-Asiatica» П.С. Палласа не была опубликована и поныне хранится в фондах Санкт-Петербургского филиала Архива РАН. В статье приведены описания некоторых рисунков, которые показывают, что анализ этих изображений дает богатый материал для истории создания и публикации иллюстраций к «Zoographia Rosso-Asiatica» и для изучения русской научной иллюстрации.

Most of «Zoographia Rosso-Asiatica» paintings was not published and are kept until now in the vault of St. Petersburg branch of the Archive of the Russian Academy of Science (SPbB ARAS). Descriptions for several paintings are presented. Some show that thier detailed analysis could produce signifi cant material on history of creation and publishing of «Zoographia Rosso-Asiatica» illustrations. This material is also helpful for research of russian scientifi c illustration.

Статья посвящена одному из малоизвестных эпизодов знаменитой экспедиции П.С. Палласа 1768-1774 гг. В ней на основе выявленных в Архиве РАН источников, не вводившихся ранее в научный оборот, освещена история открытия Палласова железа, показан большой интерес научного сообщества к этому открытию.

In 1772 scientific expedition P.S. Pallas in the head exploring a nature in Krasnojarsk region, had been found a 680 kilogram lump of metal. Pallas arranged for it to be transported back to St Petersburg. Sub-sequent analysis of the metal showed that it was a new type of stony-iron. 1794 E.Hladni had made an analysis of the stone and came to the conclusion that it is the meteorite. This scientifi c find so called «Pal-las Iron» marked the beginning of the Science Academy meteorite collection et Kunstkammera (now — in the Museum of Mineralogy RAS, Moscow). The Minister for Internal Affairs (Department of the Interior) Osip Petrovič Kosodavlev (1754-1819), writer and publisher, was a good educated man and liberal administrator in government of emperor Alexander the First. He published educational edition the «Severnaja Pochta» («The Northern Post») till his death. Documents from Archives of the Russian Acad-emy of Sciences (St. Petersburg Branch) evidenced on Kosodavlev’s special interest in the «Pallas Iron».

Рассмотрены маршрут и зоологические наблюдения Оренбургской экспедиции П.С. Палласа на территории восточной части Европейской России — Волжско-Камскому краю (ВКК) в годы (1768-1770; 1773-1774) и вклад ее в становление зоологии. Данные о распространении и численности позвоночных животных в последней трети XVIII в. сопоставлены с современным состоянием фауны.

In 1768-1770 and 1773-1774 Peter Simon Pallas travelled across the eastern part of European Russia (the Volga-Kama region). The route and and zoological results of the itinerary are considered. The data obtained by Pallas are compared with current situation in vertebrate fauna of the region.
