A short report on the conference The Development of Geobotany: Its History and Present scheduled on the 80th anniversary of the Department of Geobotany and Plant Ecology of Saint-Petersburg State University. The conference, held at Saint-Petersburg University from 31 January to 2 February 2011, welcomed participants from 35 universities and scientifi c institutions located in 25 Russian towns (including Norilsk, Yakutsk, Magadan, and Vladivostok), Kazakhstan, and Belorussia. Authors also provide a brief information of the Departments history.
