Interdisciplinary scientific conference “HISTORIA ANIMALIUM: From Mythology to Archaeology” was organized by the Department of Ancient History, Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies, Russian State University for the Humanities (Moscow), and took place in 25-2601 of March, 2016. The participants, thirteen scholars of different specializations from Moscow and St. Petersburg, presented their works, based on the archaeological materials, written tradition and iconographie sources of Scythian world, Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. The papers were devoted to various aspects of role played by wild and domestic animals in everyday life, economy, religion and mythology, art, literature and philosophy of ancient civilizations.
