A reviewed book “Doctors of Udomlya. From the history of Udomelsky medicine” (Vyshny Volochek: Irida-pros, 2015. 308 p.) is a persuasive realization of the joint project of medical doctors and regional historians (Udomliya is a district in the Tver region). 26 essays feature individual figures of the region’s doctors, in the first place, Zemstvo doctors, some of whom are world famous, others recently recovered by regional historians. Their profiles are supplemented by general characteristics of Udomlya’s region medicine. Chronologically this collection covers a period from the beginning of the eighteenth century till the mid-twentieth century.
